MATCH VERSUS DORSET 25th May 2017
A lovely day at Yeovil was the setting for our friendly match against Dorset. It's always difficult this time of year to get your first team out, with exams, holidays and work, but we were very pleased with our team. There were existing squad players and three juniors making their debut.
Jade Cope/ Helen Hayward.
Lizzie Stevens/ Gill Brown.
Abby Gray/ Kimberley Parker.
Aimee Sawer/ Carys Parker
The course was set up beautifully with some challenging pin positions. The girls worked well in their pairings with the first few holes proving difficult with quite a strong wind. They battled well and after 9 holes the match was still very close. Poor Amie then had a problem with her trolley and ended up carrying, this didn't deter her as she confidently hit some super shots onto several greens.
Cathy and Beryl (CJO) who came to watch as well, were able to watch some super golf, helping them with choice for pairings ready for the junior and ladies match week. It's was also lovely to see some parents and grandparents following their girls around.
As the matches came to an end each pair carried on to to watch other team mates battling on. The rain shower held off until we walked in with our final result as an admirable half. Sheila Davidge Captain of Dorset had organised the day, with lunch for all to finish.
Those that won today will build on their confidence and those that battled hard but lost, should also confidently look forward as we were proud of you and are really excited about the future.
Alysia Rees ( Vice Captain)

President Ellie reports:
The end of a fabulous week of excellent golf. Weather stayed beautiful too, even a little cooler.
We won against Dorset with wins from Amanda, Harriet and Hannah, and a great half by Patience. So the result was 61/2 to 21/2. This puts us in joint third place with Devon who won against Wiltshire.
Well done to all our team and a big thank you to Cathy and Alysia for all their hard work in preparing for this week and for caring for our great team. You too should be proud of what you have achieved.
Rest well this weekend all of you it is much deserved.
