It was a very successful day at Mendip Spring GC.. With 42 girls taking part in 3 different competitions, the volunteers had their work cut out. Thanks to Dave Owen who organised the day, everything went very smoothly apart from the few girls who were late arriving due to a nasty accident on the A 38. The main competition was an 18 hole Stableford on the Brinsea course, for handicaps 36 and under, the best score winning the Chivers Trophy. Frankie Dezis (Farrington Park) won with 41 points, 2nd was Abigail Moore (Isle of Wedmore) with 38 points and in 3rd place, winning on countback from Leah Bowden (Burnham & Berrow), was Jess Haines (Burnham & Berrow) with 35 points . There were 5 twos, Frankie had 3, Abigail 1 and Libbie Dezis 1.
The 2nd competition was 9 holes on the Lakeside course off the red tees. The winner with 23 points was Megan Wilde (Isle of Wedmore). In 2nd place was Polly Jones (Farrington Park) with 19 points and 3rd was Milly Pearce (Mendip Spring) with 17 points.
The 3rd competition was 9 holes on forward tees and was won by Ava Hirons (Saltford) with 26 points on countback from Georgie Cushing (Saltford) .
Well done to all of the girls who took part and very many thanks to all the helpers, without whom we could not have managed. This includes the parents who accompanied the girls, Ladies Captain Sarah Nancholas and her ladies from Mendip Spring, Carole and Gill from SLCGA. and not forgetting our photographers, Sarah Thorp and Fran Davies.
