VC's Report for Somerset Senior Ladies for AGM  2019

It is good to see so many of you here today.  I have really enjoyed my year as Vice-Captain, working with Carole and have appreciated the support and advice from her, from President Caroline and the Committee.  The time has flown by and here we are nearly at the end of another season.

Items of uniform have sold well this year and all of you who played in matches looked smart.  The white fleeces (£25) are a popular addition.  There is a good selection of stock still available, especially Polo shirts (£15).   We are in the process of trying to source a supply of the green sleeveless sweaters, as Balmoral don't produce them anymore.

The Matches for 2020 have been arranged; there are sheets available giving this information  which I hope Delegates will put on the noticeboard.  The sign up sheets will be available at the County AGM on 18 November and will be posted to you if no-one from your Club is there.

Shield matches:

Cornwall at T&P ; 4 June

Devon at Clevedon; 15 July

Dorset at Ashley Wood; 10 August

Friendly matches:

Gloucestshire at Gloucester; 30 June

Wiltshire at Kingsdown; 6 July

Hampshire at Long Sutton; 2 September.

I would like to congratulate Carole on this year's matches.  A lot of hard work goes on behind the scenes to ensure the day runs smoothly.  There has been a really good atmosphere on the day and the matches have been played in a competitive but friendly way.   The days are excellent value for money - £20 for a match followed by a two course meal.

When signing up to say you would like to be considered for a match, please check the dates carefully and if you are chosen as a reserve you should still keep the date free as changes often have to be made at very short notice.

We keep records from previous years of ladies who have played in matches so choosing the teams is done as fairly as possible. I will endeavour to give as many ladies as possible a game.

I would like to introduce Christine Harris from Saltford as my Vice-Captain. Thank you for agreeing to taking on this role, Christine, and I look forward to working with you.
