CENTENARY PLATE FINAL 4th September ROGERS CUP FINAL 3rd September 2017

2017 Rogers Cup Runners Up   - Worlebury

Sincere congratulations to both Worlebury and Mendip Spring on reaching the Rogers Cup final.  The players had travelled many miles, played many holes and sunk many putts to reach the final.

Despite the drizzle and sometimes heavier rain at the first tee the atmosphere of friendly rivalry and banter was great. It was so good to see supporters there and the wonderful caddies.

The result was a win to Mendip Spring 5/2 who were delighted to receive the Cup as this was their third final but their first success as holders of the Cup. Well done to the worthy runners up Worlebury on winning the plate.

How lovely to see both teams standing and applauding each other as they received their trophies. A wonderful sporting gesture.

Last but by no means least ,thanks to Sandra and Jane for organising yet another smoothly run event and to Wells Golf Club in agreeing to hold the final at short notice as the original venue was Worlebury. They made everyone so welcome and helped in any way they could.

Congratulations all round.

2017 Rogers Cup Winners   -  Mendip Spring

Today's final of the Centenary Plate was a very spirited fight between Farrington Park and Mendip Spring. Di Yates, still celebrating yesterday's Rogers Cup victory, with her partner Sue Long represented Mendip Spring and Jackie Walker and Angela Hudd were the pair from Farrington Park. The match was very close with Jackie and Angela managing to sink the final putt on the 17th hole to claim the victory.

Thank you to Amanda Mayne our Vice President for following the match with me and presenting the prizes.

Thank you to Stockwood Vale for hosting the event. The course was in lovely condition and we received a very warm welcome.

It has been agreed the Rogers Cup Final and the Centenary Plate final will be held on the same day unless one club features in both finals.  Should this happen the Centenary Plate will be played on another day.
