Junior Competitions, Events & Matches

I am still waiting for posters and entry forms for some of the competitions

Wheathill Golf Club hosted the Junior Girls Spring Meeting.  Although entries were disappointing the seven girls who played the 18 hole stableford had a glorious day playing some wonderful golf.  Regaining the Trophy she won last year, the winner of the Chivers Trophy, with a magnificent score of 44 points, was Abby Gray of Farrington Park, runner-up with 35 points on count back was Amelia Matthews of Saltford and third, playing in her first County competition, was Frankie Dezis of Farrington Park. Whilst the Performance and Developement girls were playing the 18 hole course, 6 Futures girls played the 8 hole Par 3 Academy course and then took part in a putting and chipping competition.  Libbie Dezis of Farrington Park won the stableford competition with 31 points and Laura-Ann Marshman of Isle of Wedmore won the putting and chipping competition.  Congratulations to all winners. A huge thank you to Wheathill Golf Club staff for making us very welcome, the County Competitions Secretary Sandra Ford and her assistant Jane Pitcher for checking the scores and Sally Irlam a Junior Committe member for presenting the prizes. Finally a big thank you to all the parents for ferrying the girls around to these county competitions.

Full report and results on Championship below.  Gross and Nett scores on the right.

On 23rd April at  Enmore Park Golf Club, 16 players took part in the 2017 SLCGA Junior Girls Championships.  Spectators were enthralled by the wonderful golf played by these young girls, some entering a major competition for the first time. My thanks to the Management and Staff at Enmore Park for making us so welcome, Sandra Ford and Jane Pitcher, our County Competition Secretary and Assistant, for their hard work in sorting out entries, start sheet and results. and to our County President, Ellie Harper, who started the girls on their round this morning and presented the prizes this afternoon.  The 2017 County Junior Champion is Patience Rhodes of Burnham & Berrow GC with a magnificent  Gross Score of  77.  The Under 15 Champion is Davina Xanh  of Mendip Spring GC with a Gross score of 81.  The Nett prize went to Carys Parker of Saltford GC with Nett 70 and the best Stableford score was 38 points by Jo Champion of Burnham & Berrow GC.  It was a wonderful Championship played in the best spirit of the game helped by the lovely weather and a stunning golf course.  Congratulations to all the winners and well done to everyone for making it a memorable day'.
